We loved every single moment of Jess and Justin’s wedding: the gorgeous venue at Sarabah Estate down in Canungra, the weather, their guests, the wonderful bridal party and most of all Jess and Justin. These two are incredible people and the love they have for each other really shows in their wedding photos. Thanks a million guys xo
How did you and Justin meet?
We first met in April 2006 at our part time job at the warehouse. Justin spoke to me first and asked if I was the new girl and introduced himself. We then over time started talking more. Then after our first kiss Justin made me wait two weeks before he asked me out. We went to the movies and saw Boys Town. Not the best movie. We started dating on the 28th of October 2006, Justin was 16 and I was 15. And we both haven’t looked back since
How did you know they were the one?
I think over time we became a lot closer. We were always a close couple but I guess there is a strange part in your relationship where you start to talk about the future a lot more. And we both could see our futures together. We share similar thoughts and what we want to do and where we want to go. So I guess that’s how we knew.
What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
I can not wait to see Justin’s face when I walk down the aisle.
Tell us how Justin proposed to you
Well After us buying a house Justin told me it wasn’t happening due to money as I kept nagging when were we getting engaged. I even got to the point of giving him ideas on how he could do it :s I was a little full on. But was told it wasn’t happening just yet so I backed off. oh and I kept suggesting it as it was coming up to 5 years and 5 is my lucky number haha so I say. So we had planned a nice weekend away for our anniversary and Justin had bought me a horse ride on the beach the Christmas before so we had organised that for then as well.
We went out for dinner the night before and Justin got a Little funny saying do you think I got you anything for our 5 years. Hinting along the lines he was going to propose. I was then getting a little excited to think I might be getting proposed to tomorrow, until Justin in bed that night decided he was going to tell me he had nothing for me and sorry for getting my hopes up (a cover up so he didn’t have to propose first thing in the morning) so I went from a high to a low and I’m a slight drama queen – so I cried. We woke up the next morning to it pouring down rain and we had our romantic horse ride on the beach booked. We both thought we should still go.
So after me being upset and The day being too wet for the picnic Justin planned he decided to try and start the day on a positive with his proposal. Justin said he was nervous and it didn’t help that when he asked I started crying again before I even said yes.
What’s one thing you love most about each other?
Jess: The things I love most about Justin is that he is a down to earth, compassionate, kind and funny (stupid funny :p). He would do anything for anyone. He works hard for what he wants. he listens to everyone’s ideas. He is a great friend and my best friend.
Justin: I love Jess’s bubbly personality, she always brings a smile to my face every time I’m with her and I look forward everyday to what adventures our lives together will bring.
What’s something silly or quirky the other person does?
Justin has a goofy yet cheeky smile that he always pulls towards me.
Jess buys me presents so she doesn’t feel bad about shopping :p
What would your advice be to upcoming brides?
What’s something that you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Rustic/vintage. The vineyard style wedding at Sarabah Estate helped with this theme. But we both love the quirkiness you can bring into it and your own personal touch. We are making most things our selves decoration wise.

Adam and I met whilst working at SeaWorld on the Gold Coast. We met in 2009 – he was an announcer for the shows and I was a dancer:
It was a typical love story. The year was 2009. The time of year on the Gold Coast when it’s crisp and full of wonderment. Hayley and Adam were working at SeaWorld in the critically acclaimed water ski show – Waterski Wipeout.
On this particular day, backstage before the show began Adam was wearing his full burgundy suit with leopard trim and foot high Elvis hair. Hayley was standing nervously yet sensually in her green checkered bathing suit on the ski dock. It got his attention….
He approached her with the opening line of “Hello, you look nice. I couldn’t help but notice you staring at my jacket. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, it’s made with real bits of panther so you know it’s good….”. What more could a girl wish for? They fell in love instantly!
They started dating and soon moved to Singapore to live for a couple of years during in which time Adam proposed to Hayley on the top of the Marina Bay Sand’s overlooking Singapore City’s Night Skyline.
Returning back to the Gold Coast in February this year, they now look forward to the next chapter in life together
The proposal 19th Sept 2011
Adam and I were living in Singapore – he was working for universal studios and I was freelancing. I knew the proposal was coming, but had no clue when it would happen. He told me one day (i think it was a Tuesday) that we were going to have a drink with a friend of his who was visiting us from Perth-I assumed we were going some where like a pub or a pretty casual place. In the taxi on the way in I noticed we were going towards Marina bay sands (the most glitz, glam, super expensive hotel in Singapore, the one that looks like a boat is floating on top) and I was like why are we going here? And he told me that his friend was staying there and we would have one drink at the bar on top the hotel and then we would go somewhere else- so I was like ok seems to make sense.
We got up the top and he ordered 2 glasses of champagne – this was my first clue as we hardly drink champagne! And in Singapore alcohol is really expensive – the bill for 2 glasses came to $90 SGD !!! I was like why are u wasting money on that?! And he was like its nice to treat ourselves once in a while… Hmm mmmmm…… I knew something was up.
I asked him where his friend was and he confessed then that we weren’t actually meeting him we were having dinner up there just the 2 of us at the restaurant ku de Ta.
I was so excited by this point but didn’t want to get my hopes up.
We sat down at a table that was in a special roped up section (more clues) with our own waiters (more clues) and he ordered for us 2 of the $300+ each 10 course digestion menu… My mouth seriously just dropped! I said let’s not spend all this money and he said its only once in our lives…!
They brought us more champagne and we walked over to the balcony to look at the view and that’s when he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said yes of course !!
Share with us something silly or quirky the other person does:
We are both pretty silly all the time !
We like to do silly accents with each other- our bridal entrance was to “power of love ” from back to the future and we are such show pony idiots we actually choreographed a whole mini dance complete with fist pump and love heart chest isolations !! It’s silly but that’s just how we are! And we didn’t care what anyone thought! We laugh at ourselves all the time.
The highlight was seeing Adams face As I was walking down the aisle, and seeing all my lives ones around. Ill never forget that. Also our wedding waltz was one of the best moments – the live music really added to the atmosphere and we lost ourselves in the moment – just an amazing feeling.
Go with your gut and don’t be pressured by trends, how much money you spend and what other brides have done – just do what you want.
Don’t stress out on little details – keep it simple – nobody really cares!
Get RSVP’s as early as possible!!
Choreograph something simple for your bridal waltz so you don’t freak out and get too emotional. Also our bridal waltz rehearsal was a wedding moment for the two of us in itself- we both got emotional! It will be something I will never forget.
What’s something that you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Getting wedding RSVP’s back was the hardest – I suggest doing this as early as possible as you really can’t do much until you know your exact numbers and who is coming.
Did you have a particular décor or theme?
All our decor and little details were provided by Albert River Wines in our package. We knew we wanted just a very clean, simple classic feel. Quite formal. Navy blue was our colour. I didn’t want any colour to be too overwhelming. We went for navy blue chair, sashes silver details/crystals on tables/silver boxed bombonieres with hershey kisses inside, and simple white candelabras on the tables. The room was all candlelit which I loved.
What brought you to choose Albert River Wines as a venue for your ceremony and reception?
We chose Albert River Wines as we just thought it was perfect. We had tried their wines at a wine tasting convention on the Gold Coast years ago and loved them! We were talking to one of the owners who told us that we should visit the winery as it was so beautiful and not too far away – just in Tamborine. He showed us a wedding picture of a bridal couple under a huge jacaranda tree and it was so pretty, it just always stayed in my mind. After we got engaged I mentioned to Adam that we should check it out as we loved the idea of getting married there. So we went and looked last year. We fell in love with place- it just felt right- and we didn’t look anywhere else. We chose it right then and there. One other reason we picked Albert River Wines was because we always wanted our wedding to happen all in one spot and in the vineyard, so this was the perfect place for us. The staff were amazing- always happy and eager to please us, and they listened to us and helped us with everything. We felt we weren’t just another couple getting married – they paid great attention, were easy going, relaxed and professional.
