Rebecca and Paul’s Gold Coast Hinterland wedding
Rebecca and Paul’s adorably sweet wedding was held in Numinbah Valley which is located in a pocket of the Gold Coast Hinterland. Speaking of Pockets, Helen from Pocket Full Of Sunshine did a beautiful job of styling Rebecca and Paul’s big day. Rebecca and Paul, we hope you love your images as much as we loved photographing your wedding. Thank you so much for choosing us as your wedding photographers xo
Paul & Rebecca met on Rebecca’s 21st birthday at a Christmas party held by a mutual friend. Paul was talking with the party’s host and when he saw Rebecca walk past he said to his friend – “Wow she is beautiful”. Before Rebecca got too far away the host grabbed her by the elbow, spun her around and said “Paul this is Rebecca – Rebecca this is Paul. Paul thinks that you are beautiful”.
Paul looked her in the eye and seizing the moment stammered “Hi”. And then quickly followed that up with complete silence.
Rebecca being beautiful said “It’s nice to meet you” and fortunately swept away before it got any more awkward.
We have been best friends ever since.
When did you know they were the one?
We knew when we first met that we were meant to be together but that was daunting for us both at that time and there was some fear for us that that was ‘it’. So neither of us did anything about it for about 4 years.
Tell us about how you two got engaged:
The proposal was a complete surprise for me. Paul asked me to marry him on a rollercoaster which was very fitting, life is a ride.
What’s one thing you love most about each other?
Rebecca: I absolutely love and adore Pauls sense of calm. He has taught me to relax and breathe through even the most stressful times.
Paul: When Rebecca says she loves me I believe her. That’s all I need.
Something you will never forget from your wedding day?
Rebecca: I will never forget the way Paul looked at me when I was walking down the aisle , the pride in my fathers eyes and the elation on the faces of all our family and friends….it was perfection.
Paul: I’ll never forget how much I smiled – almost ten hours straight. The only time that I didn’t smile was when I proudly and openly wept when Rebecca walked down the aisle towards me. Woohoo
What would your advice be to upcoming brides?
No-one knows what you want better than you. Hold onto your dreams for your day and just enjoy it.
What’s something that you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
I really thought that I would be able to take on all the ‘crafty’ stuff, that Paul and I would physically do so much more than we were able to. Be realistic. If you have big dreams and big ideas for your wedding it can be hugely beneficial to hire a stylist or and event planner.
Tell us about your inspiration for your theme:
We had a Vintage inspired Country Fair style wedding. We wanted it to be relaxed and intimate with an emphasis on family – it was very important to us that our family and friends brought their children and that everyone had fun. It was extremely personalised and there were beautifully executed details at every turn, from the named milk bottles for the children to the apples embossed with family names for the seating arrangements. There was no detail overlooked and quirky little treats to keep our guests guessing. We were inspired by our life, by the colours that make us smile and the kind of happiness that is our family.
